Flavor Flav fireworks case fizzles in Las Vegas; lawyer says he’ll tone down July 4 this year

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – An illegal fireworks case against Flavor Flav has fizzled, and he won’t be prosecuted for a Fourth of July bash he held last year.

But the former rapper and reality TV star still faces misdemeanour driving under the influence, speeding, marijuana and open container charges stemming from an arrest last month.

An aide to Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson cited a lack of evidence Monday for the decision to drop the fireworks case against the 56-year-old entertainer whose legal name is William Jonathan Drayton Jr.

Drayton’s lawyer, Kristina Wildeveld, says her client agreed to tone down the way he celebrates Independence Day, and he probably won’t have fireworks this year.

Drayton is due in court Monday on the driving case following his May 21 arrest.
