Body of drowned Coldstream man found

REVELSTOKE – Searchers have found the body of a Coldstream man who went missing after jumping into Revelstoke Lake July 30.

Authorities were notified at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday that the 28-year-old had jumped from the Laforme Creek bridge and never resurfaced.

The Laforme Creek Bridge, 20 km north of the Revelstoke Dam on Highway 23 North, is estimated to be 24 m above the water. The lake is approximately 15 m deep at that location.

Revelstoke RCMP, with assistance from Revelstoke Search and Rescue, immediately commenced a search of the area for any signs of the man which included the use of an RCMP vessel.

On July 31 the search continued with the use of an RCMP helicopter and vessel. The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team attended the scene and were located the man.

The death is now a Coroner's Service investigation. The man’s name has yet to be released.
