South Okanagan theatre troupes ready to hit the stage with new spring productions

PENTICTON – Live theatre is alive and well in the South Okanagan as two local troupes announce new productions opening this spring.

The Many Hats Theatre Company comedy Having Hope at Home runs from April 7 to April 30 with shows Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m., and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. at the Cannery Stage in Penticton.

The David Craig production introduces Alyosha Pushak in his Many Hats debut role as husband Michel in Canadian comedy which takes a side-splitting look at a family learning to love again. Josephine Patterson directs the production, while Shannon French produces.

Reserved seat prices are $22 for adult and $19 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the Wine Country Visitor’s Centre or by phone at 250-276-2170 or 1-800-663-5052.

The Summerland Singers and Players production of A Bench in the Sun will be performed at the Janet Ritchie Centre Stage Theatre in Summerland from April 21 to April 24. Showtimes are 8 p.m., with a matinee on Sunday, April 24 at 2 p.m.

Ron Clark’s play about three seniors of widely varying personality has been called “very wise, very moving, but most of all, very funny” by Mel Brooks.

Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for seniors and students. They are available at the Summerland Community Arts Council Arts Centre, Artisan of the Okanagan on Main Street in Summerland and at the Dragon’s Den in Penticton.
