UPDATE: Stolen Penticton puppy retuned to owner

PENTICTON – A four-month-old puppy stolen from outside a church in Penticton earlier this week was returned to its owner last night.

RCMP Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says the person who took Crowly, a Belgian malinois shepherd, was remorseful and the police are not contemplaitng charges.

Crowly was securely tied up outside the Vineyard Community Church at 1825 Main St., when, just before 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, he was stolen from the property while the owner went inside to buy some clothes.

The owner said there was no way he could have become loose and escaped the leash or harness. The leash and harness were also missing.

No one in the area saw any suspicious activity, although the owner did notice youths with skateboards outside before she went into the store.

— This story was updated 10:15 a.m., Friday, April 1, 2016 to say the puppy has been returned to its owner.
