Main Street building damaged by fire in Penticton prepares to welcome back tenants
PENTICTON – The owner of a building damaged by fire in downtown Penticton last year says restoration work is progressing well at the same time work continues on a revitalization project in the same block of Main Street.
Building owner Nikkos Theodosakis says restoration work on his building is nearing completion. He's hopeful the two retail outlets at street level and upstairs office suites will be ready for occupancy by June 1.
Theodosakis says the repairs and renovations have been going well.
"We haven't had confirmation yet from the two former tenants downstairs, but it looks like everyone will be returning to the upstairs offices."
For Softy's Shoes and Comfort proprietor Lindsey Hall, its business as usual as he welcomes his customers back.
Hall says he’s pleased with business so far, in spite of the fact Main Street in front of his shop is torn up and access to the store difficult.
“Business is better than expected even though I haven’t formally announced I’ve reopened,” Hall says. “I guess the community is finding out through word of mouth."
