KAMLOOPS – This year’s construction numbers in Kamloops are still lagging behind 2015.
March 2016 saw similar permit numbers as compared to a year ago, but the value of those permits was less than half.
Commercial permits were the biggest difference, as this past March had less than $1 million in construction value, compared to more than $10 million a year ago.
This trend can also be seen in the year-to-date numbers, with 2015 out pacing 2016 in commercial and residential permit value by seven times — 2016 has seen just over $3 million in commercial, institutional and industrial permit construction value compared to over $24 million by the end of March 2015.
The value of single family dwellings built in 2016 so far is also behind 2015, while duplexes and secondary suites are more popular in 2016 when compared to last year and March 2015.
