MEXICO CITY – Mexican authorities say four police officers have been killed in the western state of Jalisco.
The Guadalajara police say that four of their own — a police commissioner and his three bodyguards — were killed early Monday when the commissioner was leaving his home in the municipality of Tonala for work.
The police via Twitter said the officers managed to wound some of the attackers, but they escaped. They say the attack was in response to arrests of organized crime members in recent weeks.
The state is home to the Jalisco New Generation cartel.
