DEERFIELD VALLEY, Vt. – A Vermont ski club is looking to open a condominium hotel at its members-only resort to help save it from closing.
The Brattleboro Reformer reports Hermitage Club President Harper Sibley said Monday the company is planning to build a 79-foot-tall, 83-unit hotel at the Wilmington resort.
Hermitage officials received local approval to build the hotel in 2015, but the club was unable to start the project due to financial struggles.
Sibley says the ski club is in the process of securing new financing, and they are now seeking an extension from the Wilmington Development Review Board to build the hotel.
The DRB has 45 days to respond to the extension request. Sibley says Hermitage will likely apply for state permits to build the hotel in January.
