Kamloops man to receive medal for volunteer work

KAMLOOPS – A Kamloops man is being recognized by Ottawa for his volunteer work.

James R. White will receive the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers for his 15 years of work with the Grasslands Conservation Council of British Columbia, according to a media release from the Governor General’s office.

White is being recognized specifically for his efforts to protect 1,397 hectares of the Dewdrop-Rosseau Creek Wildlife Management Area.

He is part of the first group of volunteers to receive the medal, which replaces the Caring Canadian Award.

Governor General David Johnston will preside over the medal ceremony on Tuesday, April 12 at Rideau Hall in Ottawa.
