Kelowna RCMP on hunt for prolific thief

KELOWNA – Police in Kelowna are hoping the public can help them track down a suspect investigators believe is responsible for multiple thefts.

RCMP say they are looking into at least four separate incidents of a man walking into a business or a school and stealing wallets or purses. In each case, the suspect descriptions are the same.

The latest was yesterday, April 7 when a man entered an upstairs office at a business in the 500-block of Adams Road and stole an employee’s wallet. The suspect got away in a silver Chevrolet pickup truck.

Police are also investigating a similar crime on March 22. Again a suspect stole an employee’s wallet at a business in the 2600-block of Enterprise Way. RCMP say the thief then racked up over $500 worth of purchases at gas stations and grocery stores on the victim’s credit card.

On April 2, a wallet was stolen from a business in the 100-block of Hollywood Road South, and on March 30, a teacher at Pearson Elementary School had her purse stolen from inside her classroom.

RCMP aren't releasing the name of the businesses targeted by the suspected thief.

Police describe the suspect as a Caucasian man in his 50s, about 150 to 160 lbs., 5’4” to 5’6” tall with wavy sandy coloured hair. He was wearing a beige or tan jacket that was possibly leather.
