UPDATE: Man killed in Kamloops car crash

KAMLOOPS – Police are investigating following a car crash in Kamloops early Saturday morning that killed man.

RCMP say at about 3:16 a.m., April 9, a 1992 Ford Explorer went off Schubert Drive between Spruce Avenue and Juniper Avenue, through a fence and crashed into trees.

Firefighters needed the Jaws of Life to get the two men in the SUV out of the mangled vehicle, according to a RCMP media release.

A 31-year-old Kamloops man was killed and a 25-year-old from Surrey was taken to Royal Inland Hospital in stable condition, police say. His injuries are critical but non-life threatening.

RCMP say speed may have been a factor in the crash.

RCMP aren’t releasing the identity of the man who was killed and are helping the B.C. Coroners Service notify his family of the tragedy.
