Temporary Abbott Street lane closure

KELOWNA – Southbound vehicle lanes on Abbott Street between Bernard Avenue and Highway 97 will be closed from April 11 until the May long weekend for road and utility improvements.

Construction is scheduled from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. however, some work may occur outside of regular construction hours to minimize impacts on businesses.

Motorists will be required to access Highway 97 at Water Street or other cross streets east of Water Street and those on Lawrence Avenue will be limited to right turns only at Abbott Street. Northbound access on Abbott Street from the highway will be maintained.

Parking along Abbott Street between the City Park entrance and Bernard Avenue will not be permitted during construction. The City Park entrance is only accessible from the northbound lane on Abbott Street.

Businesses adjacent to the construction area will remain open and appreciate your continued patronage.

The Abbott Street improvements include a new watermain, traffic calming bulbs, enhanced pedestrian crossings and signage, as well as new asphalt from the highway to Bernard Avenue.
