VICTORIA – The Victoria Royals edged the Kelowna Rockets 3-2 on Saturday night, April 10, at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Arena in Victoria.
The win gives the Royals a 2-0 lead with the team's Round 2 WHL Playoffs series heading to Kelowna for games three and four Tuesday and Thursday.
The Rockets trailed 3-1 in the third period before Justin Kirkland scored to make the game 3-2. It appeared the Rockets had tied it late in the third but a potential Tyson Baillie goal was disallowed.
Baillie had a goal and an assist for the Rockets who outshot Victoria 28-26 in the game. Michael Herringer suffered the loss in net.
The series now shifts to Kelowna for games three and four on Tuesday and Thursday at Prospera Place.
Tickets are available for the games through www.selectyourtickets.com, at the Prospera Place box office or by phone at 250-762-5050.
