National security team announces arrests in possible B.C. terror plot

VANCOUVER – Terrorism charges are pending in British Columbia and RCMP in the province expect to release more information about the case later today.

Mounties at E Division headquarters in Surrey, B.C., have called a news conference for 11 a.m. (Pacific Time) to provide details about arrests made in the investigation called project Souvenir.

Investigators are not commenting on where the arrests were made or what led them to the suspects.

An news release says the charges follow a national security investigation co-ordinated by the RCMP-led Integrated National Security Enforcement Teams in B.C.

Those teams contain members from the RCMP, Canadian Security Intelligence Service, Canada Border Service Agency, and other federal, provincial and municipal experts capable of handling national security criminal threats.
