Montreal police say a woman and her adult granddaughter were victims of a double homicide early this morning.
A call to 911 reporting gunshots was made at about 2:40 a.m., and officers found the two women seriously injured inside an apartment in the city’s Pointe-St-Charles neighbourhood.
A 73-year-old woman died on the scene while her 22-year-old granddaughter was taken to hospital, where she was admitted in critical condition and later died.
Police say bullet casings were found inside the apartment.
No arrests have been made and the police investigation is continuing.
A security perimeter has been set up in the neighbourhood, and crime scene technicians were working in the apartment where the women were shot.
