Thieves have ‘change of heart:’ Stolen audio equipment returned to Kamloops business

KAMLOOPS – The owner of Lee’s Music is overjoyed equipment stolen from his store last week has been returned.

Among the items stolen on Friday, April 8 was an expensive audio unit used for large scale concert events, which according to owner Mike Miltimore, has been returned.

“The guys that did it had a change of heart,” he says. “Pretty much the majority of the equipment has been returned."

Lee’s Music is still missing some LCD televisions and a computer, but Miltimore says those items are easy to replace.

Miltimore says through sharing information about the theft on the business’ Facebook page, and working with RCMP, officers were able to determine who stole the equipment.

The person who returned the stolen gear was not involved in the theft and received a cash reward, he says.

“It was an opportunistic crime,” he says. “As far as we’re concerned it’s a done deal. We got our stuff back."

Miltimore says he is not interested in pressing charges, but the file is still being handled by RCMP.

In the meantime, he is extending a thank you to the community for sending in tips and sharing information via social media.
