North Okanagan woman scores $500,000 lottery win

ENDERBY – A Mara woman has won $500,000 by playing the Extra on Lotto Max.

Teresa Johnson says she always plays the Extra and it paid off in the April 1 draw.

“It was quite surreal when I found out,” Johnson says in a B.C. Lottery Corporation media release. “I started yelling and almost dropped to my knees.”

She calls the lottery win one of the most significant moments of her life, behind marrying her husband and the birth of her children and grandchildren.

Johnson bought the winning ticket a Parkridge Pharmacy and Health Centre in Enderby. She plans to use the money for her retirement.

The Thompson-Okanagan is on a lucky streak as of late. Robert Jaeger of Vernon won the $5-million Lotto 6/49 jackpot in the April 9 draw and June Bergh won the $50-million grand prize in the April 8 Lotto Max draw. Michael Ellis and Jessica Sandry of Kamloops won $500,000 on a Lotto Max ticket bought in Kelowna in March and in February Robert Goertzen of Kelowna won nearly $22 million in a Lotto 6/49 draw.
