Growing interest in mobile food vendors in the North Okanagan

COLDSTREAM – Mobile food vendors could soon be setting up shop around Coldstream.

After receiving requests from businesses and the general public, the District of Coldstream is working on a policy that would permit mobile vendors to operate in various locations across the municipality. Coun. Doug Dirk says the policy would cover both public and private lands.

The new Greater Vernon Athletics Park and Kal Beach are two of the most popular locations that have been discussed so far for food vendors.

“Those are the prime, obvious locations,” Dirk says.

He says it makes sense to have food vendors on site, especially during sporting events at the athletic park.

Once the policy is developed, it will need to be approved by the Greater Vernon Advisory Committee and the North Okanagan Regional District before going ahead.
