RCMP investigating North Okanagan mailbox break-ins

ARMSTRONG – Police are investigating multiple reports of mailboxes getting broken into in the North Okanagan.

RCMP Const. James Evans says police are aware of at least four different locations in the Armstrong and Spallumcheen area where community mailboxes were pried open. Police were alerted to the vandalism on April 12.

It’s unknown if any mail was stolen, but police are looking into it.

“Until you make contact with everyone it’s difficult to say. Certainly we’re investigating it with the open mind that things could have been taken,” Evans says.

To his knowledge, there have not been any other reports of mailboxes being broken into in recent weeks.

Canada Post has not yet gotten back to iNFOnews.ca, but word is the damaged mailboxes are going to be replaced with new, higher security modules.
