RCMP zero in on jaywalkers and distracted drivers

Students who hoped to save money by parking across the street from the university may have ended up worse off with jaywalking fines, Nov. 30.

RCMP sent four officers to Summit Drive and McGill Road in response to community complaints about people cutting across four lanes of traffic on Summit Drive to and from Thompson Rivers University.

The initiative kicks off RCMP's December Road Safety Blitz.

Kamloops RCMP also focussed on high volume intersections throughout the city targeting distracted drivers and traffic violations.

RCMP are also warning drivers of drinking and driving road checks that will take place spontaneously throughout the month.
