Canada beats Portugal in Volleyball Nations League
MENDOZA, Argentina – Canada’s men’s team beat Portugal in straight sets on Saturday in Volleyball Nations League play.
Sharone Vernon-Evans contributed 15 points, while Stephen Maar had 14 as Canada downed Portugal: 25-20, 25-23, 25-16.
The Canadians opened with at 3-1 loss to Bulgaria on Friday. They meet host Argentina Sunday.
“The team played a focused match today,” said Canadian coach Glenn Hoag. “I am very happy with the win, but now we turn our focus to tomorrow’s match against Argentina.”
