2 men drown in canoeing accident on Kasilof River
ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Alaska State Troopers say two men drowned in a canoeing accident on a river on the Kenai Peninsula.
The bodies of 57-year-old Harold Crossett and 64-year-old Reuben Kimball were recovered Sunday from the Kasilof (kah-SEE-lawf) River.
Both men were from Kasilof.
Troopers said the men launched their canoe without wearing life preservers. Their bodies were found about 1 mile (1.6 kilometres) from the mouth of the river.
Kasilof is a community of 530 about 12 miles (19 kilometres) south of Kenai.
