KELOWNA – A woman taking part in a Kelowna triathlon died at H20 swimming pool this morning.
Kelowna RCMP and the B.C. Coroner's Service are investigating the incident that happened at roughly 9 a.m. during the swim leg of the Cherry Blossom Triathlon. RCMP spokesperson Const. Jesse O'Donaghey says the 57-year-old woman from Saskatchewan was pulled from the pool by life guards who attempted CPR, but the patient was pronounced dead in hospital.
"Preliminary information indicates that the woman may have been in medical distress prior to going below the waters surface," O'Donaghey says.
