Local business owner to run for city council position

KAMLOOPS – Local resident Bob Dieno announced he is “throwing his hat into the political ring” by running for a spot on Kamloops city council.

Dieno is the owner of Nutech Fire and Safety, a business which specializes in protection equipment. To focus on his political run, he has taken a leave of absence from the Kamplan committee with the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce. Last year, he acted as president on the Chamber's board of directors.

His election platform areas outlined in a press release from Wednesday afternoon include keeping a restraint on raising taxes, promoting safety and security by assisting the homeless and encouraging safety programs, attracting more business to Kamloops and conserving water throughout the city.

Dieno says he is ready to roll up (his) sleeves and get to work for every citizen of Kamloops.

“I am known for my business success, common sense approach to decision making, leadership skills and willingness to listen to all sides before forming an opinion,” he says.

“This is my home, I want to do my part and I am very passionate about Kamloops.”
