WEST KELOWNA – West Kelowna Fire and Rescue and RCMP have determined a fire that started near the base of Mt. Boucherie last night was suspicious in nature.
The fire was reported at about 10:30 p.m. August 5 and said to be in the forest on the south side near the bottom of Mt. Boucherie. Crews worked through the night and part of the next day to extinguish the fire. Fire and Rescue has people on scene to continue monitoring the area for hot spots and flare ups.
The fire grew to about 0.42 ha.
West Kelowna Fire and Rescue wants to remind the public to remain vigilent when visiting forested areas and to obey campfire bans currently in place and to report any illegal burning for firework activity by calling the fire department or 911.
