The Latest: San Francisco policeman hurt in hit-and-run

SAN FRANCISCO – The Latest on a San Francisco police officer who was struck by a car (all times local):

8:30 p.m.

An 18-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of injuring a San Francisco police officer in a hit-and-run accident.

The Police Department says the plainclothes officer was in a crosswalk Tuesday afternoon when a blue sedan hit him and kept going.

The accident took place in the Tenderloin, a high-crime neighbourhood near downtown.

The officer was treated for a non-life threatening injury to his arm.

Police say they later pulled over a blue Mercedes and arrested 18-year-old Marisa Androvich of San Francisco.

It’s unclear whether she has a lawyer.

A plainclothes San Francisco police officer was struck and injured by a vehicle while crossing a city street.

The San Francisco Police Department said the motorist fled in a blue sedan after striking the officer around 3 p.m. Tuesday. Police said the officer is being treated for injuries that are not life-threatening. The officer was injured in the city’s Tenderloin neighbourhood, a high-crime area near San Francisco’s downtown.

Police have not released the officer’s name or any other details about the collision.

KGO-TV in San Francisco reported that police later pulled over a Mercedes vehicle suspected of being involved about two miles from the incident.
