Excessive speeder nabbed by Kamloops RCMP

KAMLOOPS – Police are warning lead-footed drivers to be wary of weather conditions if they are planning to put the pedal to the metal on area highways.

RCMP say they nabbed a driver doing 157 kilometres per hour in a 100 km/h zone on Highway 5 just south of Rayleigh on Wednesday, May 4.

It was raining at the time, and the road was wet and slippery, according to an RCMP media release.

The car was impounded for seven days and the driver is facing a charge of excessive speeding.

“Sure it is summer and the snow and ice are distant memories, but safe driving relative to road conditions and speed limits is a year-long commitment,” Cpl. Jodie Shelkie says in the release.
