New diagnostic imaging equipment for RIH

KAMLOOPS – Another request for proposals has gone out for Royal Inland Hospital this week as Interior Health looks to have new equipment installed in the diagnostic imaging department.

The hospital will be replacing the existing fluoroscopic system with a new multipurpose unit that allows physicians to obtain real-time images during examinations such as the gastrointestinal track, visualization of joints and assisting in biopsies. The new unit will provide more flexibility and enable more procedures to take place.

“By providing upgrades to the diagnostic imaging department at Royal Inland we are supporting our radiologists and technologists in their work to capture the best images possible for vital examinations and procedures,” says Minister of Health Terry Lake.

“This upgrade to the diagnostic imaging department at Royal Inland is great news not only for Kamloops, but for the surrounding communities that rely on this hospital for their care,” says Mayor Peter Milobar, the district chair.

It is estimated the cost of the renovations and equipment will total approximately $1 million. The project will be cost shared 60/40 per cent between the province through Interior Health and the Thompson Regional Hospital District.

Earlier this week a request for proposal for renovations to the children's psychiatric unit was also released.
