ST. LOUIS – Authorities say police officers have shot and killed an armed man while responding to a disturbance in suburban St. Louis.
St. Louis County police say in a news release that the shooting happened around 10:30 a.m. Sunday in Maryland Heights. The release says three officers fired after they were confronted by a man “who drew a handgun on the officers.”
Police say the suspect was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was identified Monday as 42-year-old Bradley Arning. A handgun also was recovered.
Police say the three officers who fired had a combined 88 years of law enforcement experience. Police say the investigation is ongoing.

This story has been corrected to show that Bradley Arning died at the hospital, not at the scene, as police initially reported.
