Canadian-based fighter retains bantamweight title on Myanmar MMA card

YANGON, Myanmar – Vancouver-based Bibiano (The Flash) Fernandes won by third-round TKO over Finnish challenger Toni Tauru to defend his One Championship bantamweight title Saturday.

The “Kingdom of Warriors” card marked One Championship’s debut in Myanmar.

Fernandes, a Brazilian who is married to a Canadian, raised his record to 18-3 in winning his 10th straight. Tauru fell to 10-2-1.

Myanmar, formerly Burma, is the ninth country to host a One Championship event, joining Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates.
