RCMP raid Kelowna home making one arrest; seize gun and ammo

KELOWNA – Heavily armed officers executed a search warrant at a home in Kelowna last night taking one person into custody while seizing a gun and ammunition.

RCMP say members of the Emergency Response Team along with officers from the Prolific Offender Suppression Team raided the home in the 400-block of Hein Road in Rutland yesterday, May 6.

One person was arrested and officers seized a prohibited firearm and ammunition, according to a RCMP release.

A 29-year-old Kelowna man is in custody and scheduled to appear in court on Monday. RCMP aren’t saying what charges he faces.

Police don’t say if anyone was hurt in the raid, but point out in the release the B.C. Coroners Service was not at the scene “contrary to reports in the media.”
