ENDERBY – On May 2, Enderby City Council surprised Auxiliary Constable Dale Fennell with a Lifetime Civic Merit Award for his service.

Mr. Fennell was invited to speak before Council regarding his experiences as an Auxiliary Constable for the last thirty-three years.

Auxiliary Constables are unarmed, uniformed volunteers who participate in community policing and crime prevention activities. Auxiliary Constables are volunteers appointed under the B.C. Police Act to assist the Provincial Police Force in the performance of its duties. Mr. Fennell's involvement has included enforcement, patrols, speedwatch, and delivering safety and conflict resolution programs at local schools.

"Enderby Council is extremely pleased to present a Lifetime Civic Merit Award to Dale," said Enderby Mayor Greg McCune. "Dale is a dedicated and deserving member of our community who has volunteered so much of his time over the last thirty-three years to the Auxiliary Constable Program. His impact in assisting RCMP regular members to keep the peace, ensuring public safety, and proactively engaging youth, has had an immeasurable impact upon the area. We appreciate and look forward to his continued service as an
Auxiliary Constable. He truly is a local hero."

A Lifetime Civic Merit Award is awarded only on rare occasions by unanimous vote of Enderby City Council. It is awarded to individuals with more than 15 years of service or volunteer experience who have made a tangible difference to the community and quality of life.
