Police suspect speed and alcohol in Peachland jet ski crash

PEACHLAND – A Quebec woman was critically injured in a jet ski crash on Okanagan Lake near Peachland Friday night and RCMP are pointing to speed and alcohol as contributing factors.

Officers were called to Princeton Beach on Okanagan Lake around 6:55 p.m., May 6, to a report of a jet ski crash.

A Quebec woman in her 20s was thrown from her jet ski after she hit a break wall near the Blind Angler Grill, according to an RCMP media release. She was found face down in the water.

The woman was wearing a life jacket and was rescued by people in another boat.

She was rushed to hospital in critical condition with 'potentially life threatening injuries', Const. Jesse O’Donaghey says in the release.

“Police suspect that speed and alcohol may have been contributing factors to this crash,” he says.
