Penticton business community rallies around Fort McMurray
PENTICTON – The Penticton business community put together a strong fundraising effort on the weekend.
Mother's Day was earmarked for local business to contribute to a city-wide fundraising effort for victims of the Fort McMurray wildfire.
Twenty-seven Penticton and area companies contributed to the effort, says a post on the LocoLanding Adventure Park Facebook page, raising over $16,000.
Local businesses created their own fundraisers, meeting at LocoLanding to pool the collected funds at the end of the day on Sunday, May 9.
Each dollar donated will triple with provincial and federal matching donations.
