Author of ‘The Cartel’ is switching publishers

NEW YORK – “The Cartel” author Don Winslow will have a new publisher for the sequel to his acclaimed novel about the Mexico drug wars.

William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishing, announced Thursday that it had reached a two-book deal with the crime novelist. One book will complete the trilogy that includes “The Power of the Dog” and “The Cartel,” both released by Alfred A. Knopf. The other novel with William Morrow is set in New York.

Titles of the new books were not announced. Ridley Scott is expected to direct a film adaptation of “The Cartel.”
