RCMP warn about bear near Kamloops elementary school

KAMLOOPS – A bear was spotted around Summit Elementary School in Kamloops this morning and the RCMP want parents to be aware.

Police say they were called at about 8:15 a.m., May 13, about a black bear near the school at 425 Monarch Crt. in the Upper Sahali neighbourhood.

The bear isn’t being aggressive, but out of concern for the safety of the children going to school this morning, RCMP wanted to make parents aware there was a bear in the area, according to a media release.

The police, conservation officers and staff from the school are keeping an eye out for the bear and making sure the kids are safe as the arrive at school.
