Most actively traded companies on the TSX
Some of the most active companies traded Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aerospace, rail equipment. Up three cents, or 1.78 per cent, to $1.72 on 9.8 million shares. Canada’s highest court has sided with Bombardier in a discrimination case that originated south of the border involving a Canadian pilot. The Supreme Court of Canada has ruled that the Montreal-based company did not discriminate against Javed Latif, a Canadian of Pakistani origin, when it denied him a training course on one of its jets.
Lundin Mining Corp. (TSX:LUN). Miner. Down 11 cents, or 2.41 per cent, to $4.45 on 6.9 million shares.
Manulife Financial Corp. (TSX:MFC). Financial Services. Down 59 cents, or 2.52 per cent, to $22.81 on 5.4 million shares.
Ivernia Inc. (IVW:TSX). Miner. Up half-a-cent, or 50 per cent, to 1.5 cents on 5.1 million shares.
First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (TSX:FM). Miner. Down $1.08, or 8.08 per cent, to $12.29 on 5.1 million shares.
Teck Resources Ltd. (TSX:TCK.B). Miner. Down 48 cents, or 4.61 per cent, to $9.93 on 4.5 million shares. Teck Resources Ltd., which is temporarily shutting down its coal mines for three weeks this summer, says it may cut production further if the market does not improve. The miner says unless the supply-demand balance improves it may take further steps to reduce production in the fourth quarter.
Companies reporting major news:
Loblaw Companies Ltd. (TSX:L). Grocer. Up $2.29, or 3.39 per cent, to $69.84 on 1.1 million shares. The grocery giant plans to shut down 52 unprofitable stores in its chain of retail outlets by early next year as it seeks to boost operating profit. The company said in its second-quarter earnings report Thursday that the closures will take place over the next 12 months and save $35 million to $40 million in annual operating income despite the loss of $300 million in sales.
