West Kelowna Warriors make first ever appearance at national championship

WEST KELOWNA – Now that the West Kelowna warriors have the trophy to prove they are the best junior 'A' hockey team in Western Canada, they prepare to make their first ever appearance at the RBC Cup championship this weekend.

The Warriors dismantled the Brooks Bandits 6-0 last weekend to win the Western Canada Cup in Estevan, Sask.

On Saturday, May 14, the Warriors will kick off the National Junior 'A' Hockey Championship in Lloydminister against the host and third best team in Alberta. The Lloydminster Bobcats had an 8-4 record in their AJHL North division, with fewer overall points than both the Spruce Grove Saints and the team the Warriors just defeated, the Brooks Bandits.

The Warriors will face the Bandits again on Sunday, May 15, and the Trenton Golden Hawks on Tuesday, May 17. On Wednesday, May 18 they play the Carleton Place Canadians.

The semi-finals are on Saturday, May 21 at 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and the RBC Cup Final is at 3 p.m. Sunday.
