BATON ROUGE, La. – Louisiana State University announced Friday that it was cancelling scheduled programs for study abroad and restricting international travel by its faculty, staff and students due to concerns over the new coronavirus.
The university said in a statement on its website that the international study abroad programs are cancelled through Aug. 17.
Students who were in such programs in countries under Level 3 or 4 travel advisories issued by the U.S. State Department have returned home. The university says they are under a 14-day self-quarantine. Travel by students, faculty or staff to those countries will not be approved.
Students already in countries not under such advisories are continuing their studies “unless or until travel advisories change.”
