Police identify car associated to man vandalizing West Kelowna restaurant

WEST KELOWNA – Police say they are looking for a Nissan Altima associated with a man who has vandalized a West Kelowna restaurant five times, smashing windows and most recently spray painting the restaurant.

As iNFOnews.ca reported yesterday, several windows of Thai Fusion remain boarded up from an April 26 attack. Surveillance video at the restaurant shows a man wearing a black balaclava and a baseball hat busting out several windows. 

This time, though, the man did something different. He spray painted a message on the side of the building on Louie Drive near Real Canadian Superstore, RCMP spokesperson Const. Jesse O'Donaghey says in a release.

"The suspect spray painted a message which appeared to be directed to the owners of the restaurant," he says. "Investigators reviewed the restaurant's video surveillance footage which showed the suspect committing the criminal acts before fleeing as the passenger in what appears to be a grey newer model Nissan Altima with black wheels."

Luke Sumpantarat, the restaurant owner, told iNFOnews.ca the graffiti referenced some kind of outstanding debt.

“It’s something like ‘Pay what you owe’. He tried to make it seem like we owe them money but the only loan I have is to my mother and I’m pretty sure she wouldn’t do that,” he said. “We don’t have any enemies that we know of.”

O'Donaghey says police seized evidence from the scene and helped clean up the mess.
