It’s strawberry time in the South Okanagan
PENTICTON – The springtime ritual of feasting on freshly ripened local strawberries has returned to the South Okanagan.
Fine Point Farms Delton Thiessen says the crop "is awesome" and strawberry production is in full swing, though cooler conditions expected this weekend will slow the crop a bit.
Thiessen's farm, located just north of Oliver, produced strawberries right up to the onset of fall weather last year and he hopes he’ll be producing until October this year.
He markets most of his strawberries through the Penticton Farmers’ Market and local restaurants and usually sells out his weekly crop within the first hour of the market.
