VERNON – Police were stunned when a woman on strict conditions not to possess a cell phone came to pick up court documents at the detachment not only with a cell phone in her back pocket, but a quantity of cocaine hidden on her person as well.

RCMP had been trying to get in touch with the 48-year-old woman to issue her some court documents related to driving while prohibited, and various drug charges. The woman had been court ordered not to possess a cellphone.

Around 7:15 p.m. July 4, the woman arrived at the detachment on her bike to pick up the documents.

"While at the office the officer noticed her cell phone in her back pocket," RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk said. 

On closer inspection, police also found and seized five pre-packed bags of cocaine, totaling .66 grams. The woman was arrested on a breach of condition for two different files and is being held in custody for an appearance in court.

"While in custody her phone received calls looking for drugs," Molendyk said.
 
"A lesson here is don't bring your cell phone and cocaine to the detachment when on conditions not to possess a cell, and it is an offence to possess drugs."
