Mounties exhaust ground search in Samantha Paul investigation

KAMLOOPS – Mounties have wrapped up their search for clues in the death of Samantha Paul near White Lake and Campbell Lake but they aren't saying much about what they found.

Cpl. Cheryl Bush said in a release today they discovered some skeletal remains which they believe are Paul's. She was reported missing in September 2013 until a skull, identified through DNA, was found June 1, 2014. The Kamloops Major Crimes Unit has been investigating and called in the Southeast District Tactical Troop to search the area for clues.

Among other things, police are curious how Paul got there, what she was doing there and how she came to be alone.

Bush said while this stage of the investigation is wrapped up, they aren't ruling out a return.

"The major crime unit will be consulting with experts on advanced methods of searching with the possibility of returning to the area at a later date if necessary," she said.
