Colby Museum of Art’s new director is veteran Chicago artist
WATERVILLE, Maine – A board member at the Art Institute of Chicago will be the new director of the Colby College Museum of Art, college officials said Monday.
Jacqueline Terrassa will come to the position after serving as the women’s board vice-president for learning and public engagement at the Chicago institution, Colby officials said. She will step into her role at Colby in October.
Colby president David Greene described Terrassa as “an artist and educator who has helped transform the way museums engage with and enrich their communities.” Terrassa is slated to take over for Sharon Corwin, who took a position as president of Terra Foundation for American Art in Chicago.
Terrassa also worked at Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York from 2011 to 2016. She established the museum’s division of gallery and studio programs during that time.
