Remains found in Salmon Arm identified as those of missing senior

SALMON ARM – The human remains found in Salmon Arm earlier this month have been confirmed to be that of a missing elderly man.

RCMP were called to an unused foot path in the area of Sixth Street NE and Lakeshore Drive in Salmon Arm on May 20 after the discovery of partially decomposed human remains were found.

The investigation by both police and the B.C. Coroners Service have confirmed the remains are those of Christopher Allbury, 70, who had been missing since May 6.

Allbury, who had mental health issues including dementia, went missing from a Salmon Arm care home.

Shuswap Search and Rescue volunteers were involved in the search for the missing senior.
