VERNON – Join us for our third annual festival celebrating First Nations, Metis and Inuit culture through engaging activities and educational presentations.

On the agenda for this popular event taking place Saturday, June 11th at the Allan Brooks Nature Centre (ABNC) is traditional song and dance delivered by performers in beautiful regalia along with ceremonial events and demonstrations. Other attractions include local artists work for sale and display, traditional bannock roasting over the fire, traditional food and more.

All ages are welcome for this free event which includes plenty of activities for the kids to enjoy including face painting, a friendship bracelet workshop, rock painting and story telling.

This event is run in collaboration with the First Nations Friendship Centre, Okanagan College, Aboriginal Community Elders Society and other community representatives. ABNC’s continuing mission is to be a community leader of education and nature-related activities in the Okanagan area introducing our community to different experiences.

Howard Alexander

Assistant Editor Howard Alexander comes to iNFOnews.ca from the broadcasting side of the media business.

Howard has been a reporter, news anchor, talk show host and news director, first in Saskatchewan and then the Okanagan.

He moved his family to Vernon in the 90s and is proud to call the Okanagan home.
