Rescued by court ruling from closure by tax authorities, Hungary’s Pinball Museum reopens

BUDAPEST, Hungary – Hungary’s Pinball Museum has reopened this week, three months after it was forced to close by tax authorities who put pinball tables in the same category as gambling machines.

The basement museum has some 130 machines, and Pinball Museum owner Balasz Palfi says the collection is the largest of its kind in Europe. Visitors can play as many times as they want for the admission price of 2,500 forints ($8.80; 8 euros).

Palfi said the museum, launched in April 2014, includes some of the most exciting and popular models of each decade, giving visitors a chance to relive their childhood.

The museum closed in May after objections from the tax office but a July court ruling allowed it to reopen.
