Pakistan’s prime minister undergoes successful heart surgery

ISLAMABAD – The brother of Pakistan’s prime minister says he has undergone a successful open heart surgery at a London hospital.

Shahbaz Sharif, the chief minister of Pakistan’s Punjab province, told reporters Tuesday in London that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his older brother, has been moved to an intensive care unit after four bypass operations.

Sharif says the prime minister, who had experienced complications following a previous heart operation, will remain in the hospital until doctors clear him for travel.
