Kelowna man and woman arrested for stealing car and motorcycle

KELOWNA – A middle-aged man and a teenage girl were arrested in Kelowna last night for stealing a car and a motorcycle.

Shortly after 7 p.m., June 2, RCMP were parked on DeMontreuil Court when they noticed a suspicious man sitting in the passenger seat of a silver Chevrolet Impala. The officers discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen from a home on Raymer Avenue the day before so they followed the vehicle to a parking lot on Bernard Avenue.

“Investigators observed as the suspect exited the vehicle, met with a woman, then departed the area on a 2001 Honda motorcycle determined to be reported stolen to police earlier that day,” Const. Jesse O’Donaghey says in a media release. “The woman also departed the parking lot, following the suspect in the silver Chevrolet Impala.”

The suspects returned to De Montreuil Court where they were taken into police custody without incident.

The suspects were identified as a 45-year-old Kelowna man and a 17-year-old Kelowna girl.

A 45-year-old Kelowna man faces potential charges of theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime and drive while prohibited. He was held in police custody and is expected to appear in court today.

The 17-year-old female was released to a guardian but could still face charges.
