Manitoba tow-truck driver turns rescuer when auto lock malfunctions
BRANDON, Man. – A tow-truck driver in Brandon, Man., is being called a hero after he rescued a toddler who had been accidentally locked inside a vehicle in sweltering heat.
The temperature was well above 30 C Wednesday afternoon when Jeff Hogg was called to deal with a malfunctioning automatic locking system.
Hogg tried to get the door open to get the little boy out, but the system kept overriding his efforts.
When the child started showing signs of distress, he smashed a passenger window, crawled inside and pulled him to safety.
Hogg says the boy was starting to doze off after his third attempt at opening the door, so he didn’t take any chances.
The child was taken to hospital for observation. (CKLQ)
